He considered that so long as Sun Yat Sen or a leader of the same type is in control at Canton there exists a danger of an attack on Hong Kong by forces possibly amounting to seventy thousand men. Such an attack could not be met by the present arri son and he said that he had represented this to War Office advising five Battalions should be added to the garrison. Telegraph your views as to the sufficiency of present garrison and General Kirkpatrick's proposal for an addition thereto, about which I am asking the War Office for an expression of their views.
